Organised for the industry, by the industry, and operated by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation in association with the Air Traffic Control Association, the World ATM Congress 2013 takes place at the Madrid Congress Centre – and includes three unmissable opportunities.

1. High-level conference

The conference programme provides a unique platform for discussing the future of air traffic management, bringing together the world’s foremost aviation leaders to share insights, views and expertise on priority issues and challenges facing the industry. The conference theme for 2013 is ‘Augmented reality: moving to a transformed global ATM system’.

It will feature industry leaders including Roberto Kobeh González, ICAO council president; Tony Tyler, director general and CEO of IATA; and Angela Gittens, director general of Airports Council International.

EUROCONTROL

Speakers from EUROCONTROL, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, will discuss the outcome of the ICAO ANC/12, how to align the ensured global plan, key technological developments and global standardisation needs.

European Space Expo

The European Commission has launched the European Space Expo to show how space and its applications provide benefits to Europe’s citizens. The expo will highlight the critical role of the EU in space and space-based technologies.

SESAR JU

SESAR Joint Undertaking will present a general forum entitled ‘From Innovation to Solution’, as well as workshops covering the following topics: ‘SWIM: becoming a reality’, "How SESAR JU contributes to SES performance’ and ‘RPAS integration in ATM’.

Argus 3D Workshop

Argus 3D (Air Guidance and Surveillance 3D) is a three-year collaborative project funded by the EU. The participants have developed an innovative, low-cost, interoperable radar-based system.

University of Madrid: ‘Bridging the Gap between policy, industry and academia’

On 14 February, the final day of the World ATM Congress, the University of Madrid will present a workshop entitled ‘Bridging the gap between policy, industry and academia’.

The aim is to help interested stakeholders better understand the current status of the cooperation between academia and industry, and what can be done to close the gap between them.
