An open call has gone out for experienced designers to pitch for the terminal building at the new Western Sydney Airport, with the winner of the competition expected to be announced at the end of 2019. Applicants are required to indicate how university students based in the area will be involved in the project.
“This is an incredible opportunity for architecture or design students who study or live in Western Sydney to be a part of this once-in-a-generation project,” said Western Sydney Airport CEO Graham Millett. He pointed to the success of Singapore’s Changi Airport as an inspiration in terms of its design focus on world-class passenger services. Construction on Sydney’s second airport began on the 24 September 2018.
