At the heart of development – the Aerotropolis Americas Conference and Exhibition

1 September 2014

December’s Aerotropolis Americas Conference and Exhibition provides a learning platform for industry professionals interested in development in and around airports, as well as an opportunity for them to meet, negotiate, learn the latest techniques and case studies, and hear from the leaders in their field.

The Aerotropolis Americas Conference and Exhibition is the annual event for the global airport development and real estate communities within the Americas region. Now in its second year, this three-day conference and exhibition serves to build on the concept of the airport city. Aerotropolis Americas will further explore how the broader aerotropolis can drive the economic development of a whole region up to 40 miles from the airport.

The conference will be held in Denver, Colorado, 8-10 December and will be hosted by Denver International Airport. The surrounding land and the eventual rail-linked route between the airport and downtown Denver's Union Station, labelled the 'Corridor of Opportunity', comprise one of the most compelling commercial investment opportunities in the US. Mayor Hancock envisions for Denver International Airport and the land surrounding it a bustling aerotropolis that will drive job growth and become a regional economic powerhouse. To make this vision a reality, the airport formally unveiled its vision for 'Airport City Denver' in 2012 while hosting the Airport Cities Conference and Exhibition, and has already begun construction on its initial components, such as a new 519-room hotel.

Denver, known as the 'Mile High' city due to its position above sea level, benefits from 300 days of sunshine a year. Located east of a major mountain range, the city has an iconic skyline positioned against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. In addition, it is located just 340 miles (547km) from the exact centre of the continental US - closer to the centre of the nation than any other city of its size. Coupled with an impressive air service, Denver also has a very strong public ground transportation system that connects the metropolitan area's three million residents.

Following a successful inaugural event, which took place in Dallas/Fort Worth during October 2013 and saw the attendance of more than 300 delegates, Aerotropolis Americas provides a learning platform for real estate developers and professionals; planners who are active in airport development; economic development agencies; suppliers and solutions providers; cargo and logistics operators, and freight-forwarders; airport executives and managers; and others interested in development in and around airports.

Aerotropolis Americas attracts a wide range of senior airport and aviation professionals from all over the Americas region and beyond. With key industry speakers and 400-plus attendees expected, it is the best place to meet airport development experts from all over the world in one place at one time, ensuring best-practice ideas are shared and lasting business connections made. Attendees will include: airport CEOs, directors, managers and executives; real estate investment trusts and financial institutions; hotel groups, leisure facilities and tourism operators; economic development agencies and many more.

The Aerotropolis events are born out of the well-regarded Airport Cities Conference and Exhibition, which was established 14 years ago and has been the world leader in driving the airport city concept of airports establishing a commercial footprint in addition to their aeronautical revenues from airlines.

The event recognises that all parties are key to the establishment and growth of a true aerotropolis. It provides an opportunity for these partners to meet, negotiate, learn the latest techniques and case studies, and hear from the leaders in their field.
