Unite the skies - ATC Global Exhibition and Conference

18 July 2016

Bringing together the entire international air traffic management community, this year’s ATC Global Exhibition and Conference, taking place 12–14 September in Beijing, will examine the progress and trends in ATM, including the increasing use of integrated systems among aviation stakeholders, the cross-border partnerships between ANSPs and the increasing importance of industrial partnerships to the global air transport system.

Air transport is a major contributor to global economic prosperity. Civil aviation provides the only rapid worldwide transportation network, which makes it essential for global business and tourism. The air transport infrastructure – aircraft, runways, airport terminals and airspace – together form the air transport system.

Advances in technology together with continued long-term traffic growth have increased the interdependence of aircraft operators, airports and ANSPs across the globe. Collaboration is at the heart of progress in aviation, whether it be cross-border between governments; among air transport stakeholders, including airports, aircraft operators and ANSPs; or even through industrial partnerships that embrace the equipment and systems providers developing the technologies that deliver new capabilities to users.

Major regional initiatives exist lready, serving a vision of seamless skies with varying levels of integration. Industrial partnerships are emerging, with cooperation between multiple ANSPs and system suppliers. The Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, linking China with Europe via central and western Asia, will trigger a huge increase in passenger demand between Africa and Asia-Pacific over the next 15 years.

The ATC community, particularly within Asia, needs to prepare for this new ‘Silk Road’, and ATC Global provides a platform for ANSPs and other stakeholders to come together to share information, knowledge and expertise that will help rise to the challenges ahead.
