Boeing Co. says its deliveries of passenger jets rose more than 7% in the second quarter, led by the long-range 787 Dreamliner, reflecting continued strength in demand from global airlines that are growing and upgrading their fleets.
The Chicago-based plane maker on Thursday said it delivered 181 jetliners during the quarter, beating a record set a year earlier, reports The Wall Street Journal. Of those, 30 were Dreamliners, roughly double the amount a year ago and a record for that programme. The deliveries included the first of Boeing’s 787-9, a longer version of the plane.
Concerns about sustainable demand from Asian carriers and a spate airline profit warnings haven’t dented the confidence of both Boeing and rival Airbus Group NV, which have accelerated the output of its factories to record levels.
